The SLAM Mats Program
In January 2025, SLAM donated 1500 recycled rubber mats to provide a comfortable surface for studying and seating, as children at the school previously studied on the cold floor.
Discarded XLPE (Cross-Linked Polyethylene), a non-toxic, durable, insulating material, was recycled to create these mats. Additionally, wishing to empower local communities, I involved women in the village to stitch the mats through an upskilling program, helping them hone their stitching and craft skills to create economic empowerment and employment in sustainable manufacturing.
The schools which received approximately 1500 Recycled Mattresses as a part of the effort are:
1. Rajkiya Upper Primary Girls School , Gugalkota ,
2. Rajkiya Higher Secondary School, Gugalkota
3. Rajkiya Upper Primary School , Chobara
4. India Development Rajiv Gandhi Service Center (Bharat Nirmala Gandhi Seva Kendra)
5. The Earth Saviors Foundation
Furthermore, in light of the recent Punjab floods of 2025, 1500 additional mats were donated to Punjab Flood Relief. Mats were donated to widows in the village for use at home as well.

The SLAM Arts Program
In February 2025, I painted the classroom walls at Rajkiya Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Neemrana- depicting colourful, educational murals-shapes, alphabets in English, and a solar system, introducing students to creative ways of combining art with education.
Subsequently, I scaled this impact by mobilizing volunteers to join me in painting classrooms across neighbouring schools.
I also aim to recruit an art teacher and conduct art lessons for students in the newly set up multipurpose educational and play area.
The SLAM Sustainable Space
Guided By Research
In 2024, building on my research on repurposing scrap to reduce carbon footprint, I advanced my sustainable infrastructure initiative by partnering with the CSR Department of ALP Overseas, a leading EPDM manufacturer. This collaboration funded pilot testing of my project, focused on recycling tyre rubber scrap into manufactured goods.
Project Overview
During a visit to ALP’s factory in Neemrana, Rajasthan, I helped design and observed the transformation of recycled rubber into non-toxic rubber crumb, used to create safe, sustainable, multifunctional educational and recreational spaces. With recycled rubber, we established our first functional, sustainable, weather-resistant area to aid with students' development and offer a space for recreation and learning at Rajkiya Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Neemrana.

Slam Women Empowerment Initiative
Despite women who were aware, and offered the training infrastructure for training, they did not show up to use the infrastructure & training consistently because of lack of access to menstrual hygine (Sanitary pads), affordability and awareness of management.
In collaboration with a 13 year old Meher Aalia Anand, a theatre enthusiast, a private sponsor, Womenite NGO and the Gurugram District Administration I introduced a program for underserved women installing infrastructure for 22 free sanitary pad vending machines at Anganwadi Centres (government-run rural childcare and maternal support centres), as well as conducting nukkad nataks (street plays) to highlight how access to menstrual health can help increase women’s participation in work and support financial independence for economically underserved groups for whom access and affordability remain real barriers.
During these sessions, girls were offered to join The free Sewing Training Center, to develop skills to create and sell mattresses and other products from recycled waste.
The first installation and street play were attended by Ms. Aman Preet Passy (IRS), Additional Director of Income Tax, and Ms. Loveleen Kaur (IRS), Joint Director of Income Tax, New Delhi, Womenite representatives and the Anganwadi network, who appreciated and encouraged the initiative, reaffirming my commitment to building practical, community-led solutions around health, dignity, and livelihood. The program is live at community centres near VKC Gairatpur Bus Stand in Gurugram, Haryana.
